MMM MMM GOOD!

The children at Jiggle Sprouts eat well!

We provide the children in our care with breakfast and two healthy snacks.

Breakfast may include whole grain cereal, waffles, pancakes or English muffins, fruit, and milk (and filtered water if requested). Once in a while we offer scrambled eggs and toast!

Our favorite breakfast fruits are strawberries and bananas.

Our snacks contain at least 2 of the following 3 components: grain, protein and fruit/vegetable. Our grains may include crackers, toast, English muffin, pita bread, Cheerios, organic animal crackers or graham crackers. (In accordance with the food reimbursement program we participate in, we only offer a sweet grain once a week.)

Our proteins typically include cheese or yogurt, and we try to vary our fruits and vegetables as much as possible to include berries, apples, bananas, pears, oranges, grapes (sliced lengthwise), thin sliced carrot or celery sticks.

Younger children eat softer foods in smaller sizes, and infants eat purees from home or softer foods that we mash up. Snacks are always served with purified water.

Children enjoy eating food together. It is a time to socialize and take the time to relax and eat and savor the food after a busy day of play and learning. Older children sit at child-sized chairs and tables, while younger children sit in high chairs. We encourage parents to send lunches that are varied and healthy, and enjoyed by their children.

This year, children have been bringing in lunch from home. We are happy to accommodate lunches that need to be heated, as well as those that are served cold (such as sandwiches). We may return to providing home-cooked lunches again this fall (and included with the tuition), but for now we can accommodate everyone's palate with foods that parents can guarantee will be savored.

Bon Appetit!
