Jiggle Sprouts to begin new Infant/Toddler Program

March 27th, 2011 by Susan

Starting May 1, 2011 Jiggle Sprouts will begin its new infant/toddler program. As some of you may know, I am expecting my third child on April 11, a baby girl. This spring is a perfect time to show thankfulness for this special gift in our lives and to introduce  an infant/toddler curriculum and program to our daycare.

Like our preschool program, our infant/toddler program focuses on developing young minds through a gifted curriculum and the personalized nurturing and care of our teachers.

Our philosophy is that at any age, through creating bonds with loving, caring teachers and being exposed to developmentally appropriate activities, babies and children can grow emotionally, socially, cognitively and physically in more ways than we can imagine.

Our infant/toddler program begins at 3 months of age. Highlights of the program include:

  • Daily log of your baby or toddler’s feeding, sleeping, diapering and learning activities
  • Biannual progress reports of your baby or toddler’s developmental growth
  • Homemade baby food using fresh & organic foods
  • Organic whole milk for toddlers
  • Music curriculum using the materials and philosophy of the best and highly recommended infant/ toddler music programs & CDs around such as Music Together
  • Rich exposure to language & early learning concepts through singing, nursery rhymes, fingerplays and talking to your baby/toddler during all awake times and routines.
  • Developmentally appropriate activities to engage your baby/toddler in his/her environment
  • Daily outdoor time (Weather and climate permitting)
  • Meticulously clean environment where all areas & toys are cleaned and sanitized daily to minimize the spread of germs

We are currently giving tours to parents of prospective infants and toddlers. Registration begins on April 1st for entry in spring, summer or fall 2011.

Presidents Day for Preschoolers

February 16th, 2009 by Susan

During this president’s day holiday week, we can make our preschoolers aware of the presidents without talking above their heads. We can examine the penny and the quarter, the one dollar bill and the 5 dollar bill, identify the presidents, look for symbols with a magnifying glass and much more. Make a black top hat with construction paper. Sing Yankee Doodle. Decorate a picture of George Washington with cotton balls for his wig. Make a log cabin with pretzel sticks and cream cheese. Do quarter and penny rubbings. Sort quarters and pennies into two piles. Use your imagination and enjoy. History starts small, and simply.

Valentine’s Day at Jiggle Sprouts

February 16th, 2009 by Susan

Red and pink hearts adorning the walls of Jiggle Sprouts. Songs, stories and recipes in honor of this beloved day in February.

The children of Jiggle Sprouts celebrated Valentine’s Day in so many ways. Each child had his or her own mailbox, and in the past few weeks, collected cards, drawings and notes from classmates and teachers. On Friday, February 13, they got to take them home. The children also baked homemade heart-shaped butter cookies, and decorated them with sprinkles and red icing. We read Valentine’s Day stories and sangs songs and did pink, red and purple collages in honor of this holiday.

Here is one favorite song we sang: (to the tune of B-I-N-G-0)

If you like a special friend, each give them a heart.

H-E-A-R-T, H-E-A-R-T, H-E-A-R-T

Each heart says I love you.

Back to School

August 1st, 2008 by Susan

It’s hard to believe summer’s halfway finished. For us July was a month of parks and pools, trips around the city, going to bed with the sun, birthdays, camp and ice cream.

Before long it will be time to think about sweaters and more structured learning. While I relish the hazy days of summer, I also look forward to the early days of September…the new faces of the children, their expressions, watching how they transform and grow by the day, week, month or year. Planning trips and activities that will brighten a child’s day and push him or her along the learning path.

It’s just around the corner. We’re accepting deposits to hold your child’s spot for September. We reopen the day after Labor Day, Tuesday, September 2. Parent Orientation will take place during the last week of August on a weekend evening, so stay tuned, Ridgewood and Glendale parents!

Hope you’re enjoying the summer making memories with your children. We look forward to making memories with them this fall.

End of the school year Wrap-up

June 29th, 2008 by Susan

We feel so proud of the growth and accomplishments of the children, and the wonderful activities they have participated in throughout the year. We have had a wonderful year at Jiggle Sprouts!

We are amazed to see children who, during the first few weeks cried and clung to their parents, now smiling, giggling, laughing and hugging with friends and teachers. We are amazed by children who in the fall couldn’t recognize a color, letter or number, now writing their names and spontaneously identifying letters, colors and numbers throughout the course of the day.

End-of-the-Year Picnic to Juniper Valley Park

June 29th, 2008 by Susan

We celebrated the end of a wonderful school year at Jiggle Sprouts with a picnic at Juniper Valley Park. With backpacks, frisbees, Nerf football, lunches and snacks in tow, we took the train and bus to this expansive, grassy park. We found the perfect shady spot under a tree. The kids were thrilled to play at the new playground, complete with swings, rock-climbing wall, climbing ropes, slides and a giant grassy hill, which the children tumbled down with glee. Parents at the park inquired who the kids with the bright orange t-shirts were. We were proud to introduce them to our jiggle sprouts!

My daughter is able to communicate better. She uses many more words and knows almost the whole alphabet:)! She understands more as well. She also tries to be independent, she wants to do things by herself and shes not afraid of potty any more!

My daughter is learning to share more.

I liked seeing how M. enjoys going and staying there. Everyone is really friendly and loving with the children and very interactive with them. It’s also very helpful to me as a parent to receive daily updates for my son.

~ Mom of 2-year-old

How well B. has learned to write and speak clearly.

~ Mom of 4-year-old.

Thanks to the Jiggle Sprouts staff and other children, J. adjusted very quickly to the new and stressful situation of attending daycare for the very first time. The staff seems to be experienced and very patient. Children are very caring toward J. I also think the field trips are a great idea. Children experience new things; they discover the world.
